Daiwa sees opportunity in Thailand

Daiwa Securities Group has signed a business alliance agreement with Thanachart Securities to give its global institutional investors enhanced investment advice for Thailand.

The agreement will provide Daiwa's investors with corporate access services and research reports on Thailand. According to Daiwa, Thanachart has wide research coverage and strong links with Thai issuers.

Daiwa said Thailand is "one of the major countries in the rapidly growing Asean region" and that the alliance will "further strengthen" the firm's Asian equity business.

Daiwa's global markets business - which includes the equity product line - had increased revenues of 32.3% in the third quarter of 2012 due to "improved" equity market performance.
